1980s Vintage Native American Afghan Crochet Pattern: Summer calls for an afghan stitched throw blanket touched with turquoise, sand, and gold. Make the panels as directed, and add cross-stitched inspired by Native American designs.
NOTE: The afghan is done in afghan stitch/Tunisian crochet, using a longer crochet hook that resembles a knitting needle. Instructions for afghan stitch are included but you will need an afghan hook.
Afghan Size: Approximately 50 x 70 inches.
Materials: Worsted-weight machine-washable yarn.
Yarn pictured: Scheepjeswol Super-wash Plus, 50-gr skeins, 22 Cream, 10 Neutral, 6 each Yellow, Brick, Brown, Jade.
Size J-10 (6 mm) afghan hook,
Size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook, or sizes to obtain gauge;
tapestry needle.
Gauge: 4 hdc = 1 inch, 3rows = 1 inch
