Afghan Knitting Patterns, Nordic & Snowflake Houndstooth Blanket

1980s Vintage Nordic Afghan and Houndstooth Afghan Knitting Pattern: The Nordic sampler is striped with four designs in traditional ski sweater colors. The houndstooth afghan has oversize designs and wide snowflake panel borders. Both are worked in the round, in one piece from end to end, sewn then fringe added.

Experience is recommended.

Size for both: Finished size is 46 x 60 inches.

Nordic Materials: Worsted-weight yarn (3 1⁄2-ounce skeins): 6 skeins of blue, 5 skeins each of cream and rust, 2 skeins of grey
1 skein (50 grams) of blue sport or sock yarn
36-inch-long Size 10 1⁄2 circular knitting needle.

Houndstooth Materials: Bulky yarn in the following amounts and colors (100-gr balls): 13 balls of cream, 6 balls of rust, and 11 balls of brown, or substitute two strands (worked together) of worsted-weight yarn in the colors of your choice and adjust amounts accordingly
1 ball (100 gr) of dark brown sport yarn for facings
36-inch-long Size 11 circular knitting needles.
