1970s Vintage Stars and Stripes Scarf-Hat and Mittens Knitting Pattern: The whimsical Stars ‘n’ Stripes Scarf-Hat and Mittens are knitted with worsted yarn in stockinette stitch. Stars are made of nonwoven interfacing and are sewn in place.

Size: Medium. Mitten length is adjustable.

Materials: Knitting worsted, 4 ounces each of red, white and blue;
Knitting needles, 1 set (4) dp needles each No. 5 and No. 7 (or 3.75 mm and 4.5 mm),
or the size that will give you the correct gauge;
1/4 yard heavy nonwoven interfacing for stars;
fabric adhesive (optional);
aluminum crochet hook size H or I for fringe (5 or 5.5 mm).

Gauge: No. 5 needles, 11 sts = 2 inches; 7 rnds = 1 inch.
No. 7 needles, 5 sts = 1 inch; 6 rnds = 1 inch.
