For extra warmth, make the caftan with a grosgrain drawstring to tie around baby’s feet. As baby grows, loosen the drawstring (as shown in image) to let feet hang free.
Size: 4 to 6-month-old baby.
Materials: Two 2-oz skeins each Orlon sport yarn or 2-ply wool sport yarn in royal blue (A), white (B), medium blue (C) and orange-gold (D).
No. 7 knitting needles (4.5 mm) (or size that will give proper gauge).
No. 7 circular 16 inch knitting needle
No. 7 double-pointed knitting needles
Blunt yarn needle
Size F crochet hook (3.75 mm).
1 animal-shaped button
45 inch gold grosgrain ribbon, 1/4 inch wide (for optional drawstring bottom)
Gauge: 20 sts = 4 inches; 42 rows = 4 inches.
